Max Ejdum moves from OB to Brøndby IF in a new transfer deal

OB has agreed to transfer midfielder Max Ejdum to Brøndby IF, ending the Svendborg-born player’s time in Odense. The deal was reached on July 6.

Ejdum came to OB as a U12 player from partner club Svendborg fB and progressed through the academy to the first team. He made 73 senior appearances for OB, including 38 in Denmark’s top division, and has represented his country at youth level from U18 to U21. In the most recent season, he played 26 league matches, recording one goal and five assists. His Danish Superliga debut came on July 29, 2022, against FC Midtjylland.

The Impact of Max Ejdum at OB

OB characterized the move as part of the club’s academy-driven approach: developing locally rooted players and, when the opportunity arises, completing transfers that fit the sporting and financial reality for most clubs outside football’s global elite. This philosophy emphasizes the importance of nurturing young talent in order to build a sustainable future for the club.

Ejdum reflected on his years in Odense as a formative start to his career, both on and off the field, and expressed gratitude to his youth coaches, staff, and supporters for their backing. His journey from youth player to first-team regular showcases the effectiveness of OB’s academy system and highlights the potential for young players to make a significant impact in top-flight football.

As Ejdum embarks on this new chapter with Brøndby IF, OB thanked him for his contributions in the striped shirt and wished him well in the next stage of his career. The transfer not only marks the end of an era for the midfielder but also serves as a reminder of the club’s commitment to developing homegrown talent.
