FC Midtjylland left Odense with a 1-1 draw after playing the entire second half with 10 men in a match shaped by early injuries and a red card against OB.
The visitors’ plans were disrupted before kickoff when Kjell Wätjen dropped out during the warm-up, and Magnus Jensen had to come off just minutes into the game. Even so, Midtjylland struck first after 10 minutes, when David Martínez drove a low cross into the box and Friday Etim finished first time past the OB goalkeeper.
Second Half Struggles
The momentum shifted shortly before halftime as Abdou Aziz Ndiaye received a second yellow card, leaving Midtjylland a player down for the final 45 minutes. OB took control after the break and nearly equalized around the hour mark, but Elias Ólafsson made a strong stop from a Noah Ganaus header. At the other end, Etim almost doubled the lead from a loose ball after a corner.
Ólafsson delivered several standout saves, including a reflex stop that pushed the ball onto the crossbar, before OB finally broke through with about 20 minutes remaining. A cross was flicked on to the back post, where Ganaus arrived to level the score.
The closing stages were open, with chances for both sides. Philip Billing was denied by a last-ditch block for Midtjylland, and OB’s Anssi Suhonen struck the woodwork from long range. Neither team found a winner, and the points were shared.
The league pauses for three weeks for international fixtures. Midtjylland’s next match is scheduled for October 11, when F.C. Copenhagen visits MCH Arena in the 3F Superliga. Fans eagerly await this clash, hoping for a thrilling performance from both teams as they resume league action.
