Nedeljkovic’s saves and Celebrini’s goal secure San Jose’s win over Nashville in a shootout thriller

In an exciting matchup at Bridgestone Arena, the San Jose Sharks edged out the Nashville Predators with a thrilling 3-2 victory. The game showcased impressive performances, particularly from goalie Alex Nedeljkovic, who stopped 32 shots, and Macklin Celebrini, who scored the decisive shootout goal.

Game Highlights: Sharks vs. Predators

The Sharks started strong, establishing a 2-0 lead early in the game. Mason Marchment opened the scoring at 5:30 in the first period, finishing a great play from below the goal line. Will Smith doubled the lead in the third period at 4:28, taking a setup from Michael Kesselring and executing a perfect wrist shot from the right circle that beat Predators goalie Juuse Saros.

Nashville fought back, with Ryan O’Reilly scoring a power-play goal at 9:05 of the third period, cleaning up a rebound in front of the net. The excitement ramped up when Steven Stamkos scored a last-second goal, tying the game at 2-2 and forcing overtime. This goal marked another milestone for Stamkos as he became the first player in NHL history to score two game-tying goals in the final second of regulation.

In overtime, Nedeljkovic made a crucial glove save on Roman Josi in the dying moments, ensuring that the game remained tied. The shootout saw Celebrini maneuver from the left side, cutting to the middle and slipping the puck past Saros, securing the victory for the Sharks. Saros ultimately finished with 30 saves, but it wasn’t enough to clinch the win for Nashville.

The Sharks improved their record to 4-3-0, bouncing back after a tough stretch that saw them lose three of their last four games. Meanwhile, the Predators fell to 2-2-3, struggling with four losses in their last five games (1-1-3). Notably, Josi continues to make his mark, as he has recorded at least one point in 11 consecutive games against the Sharks, marking the third-longest active streak by a defenseman against a single opponent.

In addition to the game highlights, Sharks defenseman Darnell Nurse did not participate due to an upper body injury and is considered day to day. Kesselring, who assisted on Smith’s goal, notched his first point since joining the Sharks on June 17. The Sharks are looking to build on this momentum in their upcoming games as they aim for a stronger season ahead.
