Odense Boldklub and the municipality launch a sports initiative for young people with part-time jobs

Odense Boldklub (OB), DIF get2Sport, and Odense Municipality have joined forces in a commendable initiative aimed at collecting and reusing second-hand sports clothing and equipment. This collaborative effort not only seeks to provide essential resources for local youth but also focuses on creating part-time job opportunities for young individuals, thereby facilitating easier access for children and teenagers to participate in local sports clubs and associations.

Donation Initiative Details

To support this initiative, donation containers have been strategically placed at various locations around Odense to gather used yet serviceable items. The collection period runs from 5 October to 30 October 2026. A dedicated container will remain at OB’s clubhouse in Ådalen throughout this period, while other containers will rotate between different sites across the city to maximize outreach and participation.

As part of this program, 20 young people will be hired to sort, wash, and prepare the donated items for reuse. This employment opportunity is designed to provide these individuals with their first experience in the workforce, helping them gain structure, independence, and confidence through meaningful engagement. By participating in this initiative, they will develop skills that are invaluable in their future careers.

Once the clothing and gear have been prepared for reuse, they will be distributed free of charge at a sports bazaar held at Odense Stadium. This much-anticipated event is scheduled to coincide with OB’s Superliga home match against Silkeborg on Sunday, 1 November 2026, at 14:00, making it an exciting occasion for both participants and attendees.

Organizers emphasize that this collaboration is not only about extending the life of sports equipment but also about supporting families in need and reducing barriers to participation in organized leisure activities. They aspire to foster a culture of sharing and generosity, encouraging community members to pass on items to those who can benefit from them.

Through this initiative, Odense demonstrates its commitment to sustainability, community support, and youth empowerment, ensuring that sports and physical activities remain accessible to everyone.
