Odense Boldklub parts ways with head coach Alexander Zorniger

Odense Boldklub has parted ways with head coach Alexander Zorniger with immediate effect, citing collaboration issues and insufficient support for the club’s strategic direction and ambitions. This decision comes as a significant shift for the 3F Superliga side, which is now in search of new leadership.

OB’s Strategic Direction and Future Plans

The club will appoint a new head coach, with the change effective from today. Odense Boldklub stated that following their promotion, they accelerated development across several areas, including the coaching position, to ensure a return to the 3F Superliga and provide the squad with new impetus. While those short-term aims were met, OB now sees a need for changes to move into the next phase of their evolution.

According to sports director Troels Bech, the club’s identity and long-term strategy remain unchanged and non-negotiable. Despite ongoing discussions, the parties involved could not align on culture and identity, and the organization’s cohesion had been strained in a way the club judged incompatible with its ambitions. OB emphasized it would not compromise on its chosen course and thanked Zorniger for his contributions during his tenure.

Zorniger had led the team since May 31, 2025, and under his guidance, the club finished eighth in the 3F Superliga last season. This record, while commendable, did not meet the aspirations set forth by the club’s management.

In light of these developments, OB will hold a brief media session at Pitch 1 in Ådalen at 3:00 p.m. today. This session aims to provide an update on the head coach position and outline the club’s next steps in securing a new leader who aligns with its vision and goals.

As Odense Boldklub embarks on this new chapter, fans will be eager to see who will take the helm and guide the team towards future successes in the competitive landscape of the 3F Superliga.
