Sønderjyske Fodbold has appointed Martin Karas Christiansen to a new full-time role overseeing matchdays, strengthening the club’s off-field operations. The 46-year-old, based in Haderslev, has spent more than two decades in Southern Jutland’s nightlife and experience sector. He has owned and managed several prominent concepts in the region, including Crazy Daisy, and has been involved in projects in Sønderborg, Vejen, and Kolding.
Extensive Experience in Management and Development
Christiansen is trained in hotel and restaurant management and brings extensive experience in leadership, staff development, sales, marketing, and event design. He has also served on the board of NOX Network, an association of 38 Danish nightclubs and bars focused on industry and workforce development. This diverse background equips him well for his new responsibilities at Sønderjyske Fodbold.
In recent years, he has worked more broadly on local development in Haderslev, most recently as trade coordinator for the city’s business community, a position he has held for the past six months. His insights into the local market will be invaluable as he takes on his role at the football club.
At Sønderjyske Fodbold, his main task will be to ensure smooth matchdays at AL Sydbank Park, including oversight of concessions and spectator flow. He will also support other departments with links to sales and events. The club has collaborated with Christiansen and Crazy Daisy for several seasons and is now bringing him fully into the organization to enhance the stadium experience.
Christiansen expressed pride in joining the club and intends to apply his entertainment-industry background to football operations. Sønderjyske Fodbold draws an average of about 6,000 spectators to home matches at AL Sydbank Park. His appointment is expected to significantly enhance the matchday experience for fans, making it more enjoyable and efficient.
With his wealth of knowledge and experience, Christiansen is poised to make a meaningful impact on Sønderjyske Fodbold’s operations as he officially starts on October 1.
