Sønderjyske Football secures new reinforcement with Bulgarian Stefan Velkov

Sønderjyske Fodbold has officially signed Bulgarian center-back Stefan Velkov on a three-year deal that will run until the summer of 2029, following his release from Vejle Boldklub. The 29-year-old defender arrives at Sønderjyske after spending four seasons with Vejle, where he established himself as a reliable player, making over 100 appearances in both the Superliga and the First Division. His extensive experience in Danish football is seen as a valuable asset for Sønderjyske as they bolster their defensive lineup.

Velkov began his professional career at Slavia Sofia and has also played across Europe, featuring in the Netherlands and Germany for clubs such as FC Den Bosch, RKC Waalwijk, KFC Uerdingen, and MSV Duisburg. His international experience is equally notable, having represented Bulgaria at various youth levels and earning two caps for the senior national team.

Sønderjyske views the signing of Velkov as a significant addition to their defense, citing his seasoned background and leadership qualities. The transfer was finalized on the last day of the transfer window, underscoring the team’s proactive approach to enhancing their roster.
