In a significant update for Anaheim Ducks fans, forward Troy Terry is set to undergo surgery to address a chronic hip impingement. This development raises questions about his availability for the start of the next NHL season.
Troy Terry’s Performance and Injury History
Troy Terry had a notable playoff run, tying for second on the team with 11 points in 12 games. He also finished the regular season strong, recording 57 points in just 61 games. This marks his fifth consecutive season achieving at least 19 goals and 50 points. However, Terry’s journey this season was hindered by injuries; he missed 11 games in January and another nine after the 2026 Winter Olympics due to separate upper-body injuries.
The Ducks made their first postseason appearance since 2018, but their campaign ended with a disappointing 5-1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 6 of the Western Conference Second Round on May 14. This playoff experience, while brief, highlighted the resilience and skill of some key players despite their injuries.
Other Ducks players also faced significant injuries during the playoffs. Cutter Gauthier led the team with 12 points in 12 postseason games while managing a transverse process fracture involving the L1 and L2 vertebrae. He was injured on March 30 against Toronto, missed five games, and returned earlier than expected, although the injury continued to impact his performance during the playoffs.
Additionally, team captain Radko Gudas suffered a sprained ankle and last played in Game 1 of the first round against Edmonton. He was projected to be cleared for action had the Ducks advanced to the Western Conference Final. Ryan Poehling also faced challenges, suffering a concussion in Game 5 against Vegas and missing Game 6, but he has since been cleared of symptoms.
On the defensive side, Drew Helleson was sidelined for the last three games of the second round due to a groin strain, while Pavel Mintyukov played through an MCL sprain. Fortunately, both defensemen are expected to be ready for the start of training camp next season, bringing hope of a healthier roster as they prepare for the upcoming challenges.
