Dino Prizmic impresses in the first round of the 2026 Croatia Open Umag

Dino Prizmic gave the home crowd an early lift at the 2026 Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag on Monday, cruising past eighth seed Vit Kopriva 6-1, 6-3 to reach the second round. The 20-year-old seized control immediately, winning the first five games of the match in their first tour-level meeting. He converted all four of his break chances and will next face either Alex Molcan or Valentin Royer.

Ranked No. 84, Prizmic has already set a career high with 13 tour-level victories this season, a run that includes a win over Novak Djokovic on the way to the Rome fourth round. A finalist at the 2025 Next Gen ATP Finals, he is aiming for a third straight quarter-final in Umag.

Exciting Matches on Day 1 of the Croatia Open

Earlier in the day, Luca Van Assche produced one of the year’s most dramatic turnarounds. The 22-year-old Frenchman, who retired from his Wimbledon opener two weeks ago with a back issue, trailed Dusan Lajovic 2-6, 0-4 before rallying to win 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 and move into round two. He will play compatriot Titouan Droguet or fifth seed Alexander Blockx next.
