Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten have reached the pinnacle of the PIF ATP Doubles Rankings for the first time, becoming joint World No. 1s following their impressive journey at Roland Garros on June 8, 2026. This achievement marks a significant milestone in their careers and highlights their tremendous teamwork and determination.

Historic Rise to the Top

The Finnish-British duo advanced to their third Grand Slam final together in Paris, entering the tournament ranked No. 4 in the world. Impressively, they did not drop a single set on their path to the championship match, although they ultimately faced defeat against Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos.

Heliovaara and Patten’s ascent in the rankings has been nothing short of remarkable since they began partnering in 2024. Both players had previously achieved individual highs, peaking at No. 3, but it was their collaboration that propelled them to significant success. Their first major breakthrough occurred at Wimbledon in 2024, where they clinched their inaugural Grand Slam title in a thrilling match against Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson, which was decided by three tie-break sets after saving three championship points.

Following their Wimbledon triumph, they added another Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in 2025 and capped off that season with a victory at the Nitto ATP Finals. Their momentum has continued into 2026, where they have already secured four titles, including a prestigious ATP Masters 1000 event in Madrid. Over their partnership, Heliovaara and Patten have amassed a total of 12 team titles, encompassing two Masters 1000 trophies and two Grand Slam crowns.

Patten’s achievement as the fifth British man to reach the No. 1 spot in the doubles rankings is noteworthy, joining the ranks of former champions like Jamie Murray, Joe Salisbury, Neal Skupski, and Lloyd Glasspool. Heliovaara also makes history as the second Finnish man to achieve this milestone, following Henri Kontinen. Together, they become the 67th and 68th players to attain the top position in the illustrious history of the PIF ATP Doubles Rankings.

Both players attribute their success to a year of steady progress and consistent performances, transforming last season’s near misses into this season’s triumph. They emphasize that sharing this significant milestone only enhances its importance, reinforcing their commitment to each other and to their goals as they continue their journey in professional tennis.
